Step 1: Choose your courses
Graduate Certificate of Law
The Graduate Certificate of Law program consists of 24 units in total or the equivalent of a half year of full-time study, distributed as follows:
- Completion of LAWS8586 Law and legal Institutions*
- 3x LAWS8000 level courses
*Students who have completed an Australian undergraduate law degree or Juris Doctor or equivalent are exempted from LAWS8586 Law and Legal Institutions and are required to complete an additional 6 units from the course list.
As a postgraduate student of ANU you take responsibility for your own studies administratively and academically. This includes correctly enrolling in the courses, updating your personal details in the ANU system through ANU Hub , applying for program leave, withdrawing from a course without financial and/or academic penalty, verifying Census Date deadlines, applying for FEE-HELP (if you are eligible) and more.

Step 2: Enrol in your courses on ANU Hub
ANU Hub allows students to enrol, view invoices, check grades, confirm graduation eligibility, pay fees, submit commonwealth assistance forms (CAF), maintain personal information.

How to find courses on offer in 2026
Go to the ANU Law School Course Search Website. At the top of the page, select:
- 2026 under 'Year'
- Graduate Certificate of Law under 'Program'
Read the course description by clicking on the course code.
Step 3: My Timetable
MyTimetable is the ANU official timetabling system enabling you to view the timetable for your enrolled courses, browse, then self-allocate to small teaching activities / tutorials.

Canvas
Canvas is the Learning Management System at ANU, where you can access course materials, readings, lecture recordings, and submit assignments. You’ll be granted access to your courses on Canvas within 24–72 hours after enrolling via ANU Hub.
CanvasCensus Dates
Each course has a census date. If you are enrolled in a course once the course census date passes, you will remain liable for the full tuition and associated fees for that course.
The following standard census dates apply at ANU:
- First Semester Census Date is 5 April
- Second Semester Census Date is 31 August
Each course in a non-standard session has its own individual census date. Please look up course code on ANU Program and Courses to find the census date for that course. More information on census dates can be found here.
Step 4: Textbooks
For your LAWS-coded courses, you can find the required textbooks by visiting the ANU Law School Course Search Website. Simply search by course code or course name, and the required textbooks will be listed under Textbook and reading requirements.
Step 5: ANU Law School Orientation Week Events
ANU Law School O-Week Induction
The College Student and Education Support team will go through the different administration processes, from how to navigate our websites to how to apply for assessment extensions.

We encourage international and incoming exchange students to attend the ANU Law School O-Week Induction event. This face-to-face information session will also cover everything an international student should know, from rights and responsibilities to services available to you.
Registration the ANU Law School O-Week Induction event will cover both the main information session, and the session for international students.

Download the ANUOK App
The ANUOK app is the official safety and wellbeing app for the ANU community. ANUOK is downloadable via the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Pre-arrival Online Information Sessions
From 11 December 2025 to 25 February 2026, ANU Student Life will be delivering a series of pre-arrival online information sessions designed to help you prepare for your studies at ANU. We strongly encourage law students to attend before Orientation Week.
Sessions include:
- Student Fees (International and Domestic)
- Enrolment and Timetabling
- Arriving at Your ANU Accommodation
Lockers Available!
The ANU Law School has lockers available for law students to hire during the academic year.
The lockers are located in Building 5, in the corridor next to the Law library. Lockers can only be accessed during the Law library opening hours.
IMPORTANT!
- Lockers are available from O-week until the end of the examination period.
- There is no fee to hire a locker.
- Students must bring their own padlock (suitcase size) and provide photo ID.
- Lockers will be distributed on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis. There is no waiting list.
- All lockers must be vacated at the end of examination period, in Semester Two.
To take possession of a locker, students will need to present themselves at the College Student and Education Support team, during front counter opening hours.
